The Songbird Essentials Squirrel Resistant Suet Palace is a smarter way to feed suet. With its metal plate in place, the protective cage helps keep squirrels, starlings and grackles away from the suet. Hang it high and remove the plate, and large woodpeckers such as flickers, sapsuckers, red-headed, red-bellied and even pileated woodpeckers can cling to the bottom and feed.

Key Features

  • Squirrel and nuisance bird resistant: With the metal plate in place, it helps keep squirrels, starlings and grackles off the suet.
  • Feeds large woodpeckers: Remove the plate to let big woodpeckers feed upside down from the bottom.
  • Sized openings: 1.5 x 1.5 inch side openings and 0.5 x 0.5 inch bottom grid.
  • Standard suet cakes: Fits suet cakes about 4.5 x 3 x 4 inches.
  • Protective roof: A green roof helps shelter the suet from the weather.

Suet Feeding Tips

Two Ways to Use It

Keep the metal plate in when squirrels or starlings are a problem. Hang the feeder high and remove the plate to invite large woodpeckers.

Placement

Hang near mature trees, where woodpeckers naturally forage.

Suet Choices

Use no-melt suet in warm weather and replace any suet that becomes soft or spoiled.
