Coveside Basic Eastern Bluebird Trail Box | Wooden Bluebird Nesting Box

Coveside Basic Eastern Bluebird Trail Box

Give bluebirds a safe, natural place to raise their young with the Coveside Basic Eastern Bluebird Trail Box. This essential abode is designed to suit bluebirds, giving these feathered favorites the shelter they need to thrive and maintain their populations. With 0. 75" thick, sustainably grown eastern white pine construction, this naturally appealing box serves as a durable and staunch option that helps prevent overheating, and the rough finish of the wood gives fledglings a secure foothold when moving throughout the nest. The cozy interior provides ample nesting space, with a slanted, overhanging roof directing water away from the box as it protects against outdoor elements, while gaps on each side panel just below the roof serve to prevent overheating and facilitate proper air flow. One side of the unit acts as an access panel for observation and convenient seasonal cleanouts, easily opening when maintenance is required, and gaps at each corner of the interior floor allow extra drainage to keep the nest dry.

Placement Tips

Mount your bluebird house 4 to 6 feet off the ground on a pole or post in an open, grassy area with a few scattered trees nearby. Face the entrance away from prevailing winds, ideally toward a tree or shrub within 100 feet so fledglings have a safe first landing spot. Add a predator guard or pole baffle to keep out raccoons, cats and snakes, and space multiple houses at least 100 yards apart.
