Squirrel Defeater Double Suet Cage Feeder for Woodpeckers

Serve suet to woodpeckers and other clinging birds while keeping squirrels on the outside. The Squirrel Defeater Double-Suet Cage Feeder from Backyard Essentials holds two suet cakes inside a protective outer cage. The cage openings are sized at 1-3/8 inches square, letting smaller clinging birds reach the suet while helping keep squirrels from getting to it. A green roof helps shelter the suet from the weather.

Suet Feeding Tips

Placement

Hang the feeder near trees, where woodpeckers and nuthatches naturally forage, and at least 5 feet off the ground.

Choosing Suet

In warm weather, choose no-melt suet cakes so the suet stays firm and fresh.

Cleaning

Remove any old or spoiled suet and wipe the cage clean between refills.
